West Virginia Small
Businesses Lead New Contracts for NASA
Science and Technology
Alliance for Reliable Solutions (STARS), a contract teaming arrangement
between three West Virginia-based small businesses, has been awarded two
significant contracts in support of the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA).
STARS is comprised of
KeyLogic Systems, Inc. (Morgantown, WV), Galaxy Global Corp. (Fairmont, WV),
and Information Research Corp. (Weston, WV). These awards are valued at
approximately $3.5 million and will benefit the State of West Virginia by
providing new employment opportunities within the Information Technology
community.
In support of the NASA
Safety Center, STARS is providing Software Assurance Technical Excellence
(SATE) services, including the development and delivery of coursework and
automated tools to support software assurance practitioners. The STARS team
is joined by Alphaport, LLC (an Ohio-based educational application
development firm) for this effort.
The second effort is in
direct support of the NASA Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V)
Facility, providing services to Enhance Validation and Verification Tools
and Engineering Approaches. Sphere of Influence (a VA-based software
development firm) joins STARS to round out this team and to provide NASA
with the best possible team for this assignment.
Both of these contracts
have provided NASA with the ability to bring new, high-caliber talent to the
region. In supporting enhancements of the V&V tools and approaches alone,
NASA has engaged 14 engineering professionals from 9 states across the
country to staff this work.
These employees are
housed in the new STARS office located adjacent to the NASA IV&V Facility in
Fairmont, WV.
“Each of these
opportunities truly reflects NASA’s commitment to small business and we are
grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead,” says Josiah Devasirvatham,
STARS SATE Program Manager. “STARS accepts this challenge and is committed
to the mission and success of NASA programs in West Virginia.”
Through these contracts,
the STARS team supports NASA programs for both manned and unmanned space
flights.
Leveraging over 27 years
of combined NASA experience, STARS offers more direct NASA IV&V expertise
than is available through any other small business.
