ACTD Team of the Year
Members of KeyLogic
Systems' team for the Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD)
program have been recognized as a "Team of the Year" winner by the U.S.
Pentagon.
Team members won the award for creative use of "Adaptive Battlespace
Awareness (ABA)” information processing in support of EUCOM U.S. armed
forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom. DISA's work enhanced situational
awareness for all U.S. and allied warfighters in the theater of operation,
Pentagon officials confirmed.
It is the first time this DISA team has won such high level recognition in
competition with other federal government programs. The award specifically
mentions the ACTD team's ability to improve military operational
effectiveness and to optimize funding and personnel resources to keep on
budget, and on time.
Betty Carey, KeyLogic senior systems analyst, was among a team of 30
specialists from eight collaborative information technology firms comprising
the Team of the Year. Efforts lauded by Pentagon officials included overall
program support, system engineering and software development.
Among the challenges DISA faced was transforming flat electronic battlefield
maps into practical, functioning and customized information analysis and
planning tools. These tools directly impacted military commanders and field
officers' abilities to prosecute military activities.
”The overall results reflect flexible, integrated intelligence and image
enhancement of millions of bytes of information on a second-by-second real
time basis,” Ms. Carey said.
Key achievements of the program include: improved access to intelligence,
improved reliability of images displayed, computer modeling of templates,
instant links to support databases and intuitive displays of data, she
added.
Pentagon officials reviewing the overall DISA ACTD program agreed with
nominating petitioners that cited the team's performance as "most deserving
of ACTD Team of the Year" recognition.
"We are extremely pleased with this team award from the Pentagon and
especially proud of KeyLogic's expertise as managed by Betty Carey. It is
proof of our firm's creative approach to IT problems/solutions," Jon
Hammock, KeyLogic president, said. “We are proud to be supporting our troops
during this important period of history,” Mr. Hammock added.
