Hammock Named WV Small
Business Person of the Year
The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) has
announced that Morgantown entrepreneur Jon K. Hammock is the 2005 West
Virginia Small Business Person of the Year. Hammock is President and CEO
of KeyLogic Systems, Inc., a HUBZone certified small business providing IT
Services and Business Consulting to the federal government.
Each
year, the SBA presents this award to one business person from each of the 50
states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and Guam. Honorees are outstanding
business owners who have achieved personal and professional success through
hard work, innovative ideas and dedication to their communities. The awards
will be presented during the national SBA Expo, held April 26-28 in
Washington, D.C., which is part of the celebration of Small Business Week,
held upon proclamation from the President every year since 1963. Small
businesses represent more than 99 percent of all employers, providing 75
percent of new jobs and generating a majority of American innovations.
“It is
truly an honor to receive this award and have the opportunity to represent
the state of West Virginia at the National Expo,” says Hammock. “KeyLogic’s
success is directly related to the results provided for our clients –
winning an award like this is reassurance that we are making a difference
and helping them achieve results.”
Jon is
a Parkersburg, WV native and a first-generation college graduate who paid
his way through school by working in coal mines and grocery stores. In
1999, he became a founding partner in KeyLogic and has seen the company grow
every year since, providing new job opportunities and stimulating the
technology business sector within the state. Community involvement is very
important to Hammock – he is an active member of the Morgantown Chamber of
Commerce and the West Virginia Roundtable, an affiliate of the West Virginia
High Technology Consortium Foundation and has hosted numerous speaking
engagements at West Virginia University and other civic organizations.
